Review: Cheo Feliciano and Ruben Blades “Dime”

Wooohooo!!! After seven years in the making, salsa legends Cheo Feliciano and Ruben Blades have finally released their monster collaborative album, entitled Eba Say AjáChaaacho que Rumbon!  This project is a throwback to the golden years of the Fania era and features two of my favorite artists together doing what they were born to do, which is sing!  And man can these guys deliver lyrics like no other.

Featuring a cast of some of the industry’s best musicians such as Luis Marin (piano, vibes), Felipe Fournier and Raul Rodriguez (vibes), Charlie Sierra (timbales, bongo), William “Cachiro” Thompson and Georgie Padilla (congas), Louie Garcia (tres), Pedro Pérez (bass), this disc has everything any salsa fan can ask for. As for who’s featured on coro? Rubén and Cheo made sure to recruit a line up of great vocalists such Darvel Garcia, Wichi Camacho, Chegüi Ramos and Primi Cruz.

With duet songs like the featured single “Dime”, and solo cuts such as Franquenza” and “Inodoro Pérez”, Ruben and Cheo have pulled out all the stops to ensure that this release would be yet another chart topping success that could be added to their years of collective musical achievement.

I greatly recommend that you add this modern day classic to your Salsa collection. DJs, add this production to your rotation immediately!
