Review: La Maxima 79 “Resilienza”

The new Maxima 79 production “Resilienza” finally dropped and all we have come to expect from this Bad Ass Italian orchestra is here on 16 awesome tracks which consists of Boogaloo, Timba, Son Montuno, Pachanga and Son Guaguanco. I had a conversation with the leader/percussionist of the band Fabricio Zoro and he indicated that this would have to be his favorite album. Fabricio’s vision for this recording was to capture the old school flavor in the studio of the 60s which is no longer is used.

This CD already has 3 number one hits on the NewGenSalsa Int’l Top 100 Playlist during 2019 (La Iglesia Rumbera, El Pasillito and most recently El Profeta Del Guaguanco) and from what I’ve listened to so far on this production there’s several more coming in 2020. These Cats know what they’re doing and above all they know what the dancers and DJs love.

These are a few of my Pick Hits for 2020:
1. La Maxima Changüi – Super Hot dance floor burner.
2. El Bacalao Salao – A Son Montuno with swing for days.
3. Seventy Nine Boogaloo – Featuring vocalist and co-leader of New Swing Sextet my
buddy Angel Justiniano
4. En La Calle – Just like the coro says “Ritmo Bueno”
5. Colada (Intro & Outro Blaze) – This is a fun track with edits.

I’m sure everybody will find other songs that they will enjoy on this fantastic production. I must give Fabricio and crew my cudos for putting together another EXCELLENT production.

To all my Salsa lovers I highly recommend you pick up this CD/Mp3s and add it to your Salsa collection. And to all my DJ brothers, you know what time it is. A must add to your arsenal.
