The New Swing Sextet was created in Spanish Harlem in 1965 and have been together over 50 years. During all those years they have accumulated thousands of fans from all around the world who love their music. George and Angel are the leaders of the band and I’m happy to say they’re my friends. They take pride in how they represent the music we love.
Their new production which is their 8th album was recorded with the entire band in the studio the old school way. DJ Alexio owner of the Abanico/iLatino Labels in Italy who is also Executive producer hired the Bongohead team to put together the cover concept which was inspired by the classic Eddie Palmieri “Lucumi Macumba Vodoo” album. This is a dream come true for DJ Alexio who fell in love with New Swing Sextet during the time he hired the band to do a few concerts in 2014 in Italy.
DJ Alexio and Fabrizio have done a great job and we the fans are going to enjoy an awesome recording of this institution whom we’ve come to love and hale from New York City. I have listened to this new album several times and as a DJ I already have several songs that I will definitely play in all the venues I spin at.
The Salseros and Dancers will find many songs to dance and/or listen to. Songs such as the track I have posted for your listening and dancing pleasure “De Que Te Quejas (Dj Alexio Radio Edit)”. A hot dance track that will keep all the dance floors packed. Note this is the 4:24 edited version. The album also includes the un edited version which is over 6 minutes long….That’s the one I will play.
