Review: The Echo Park Project ‘El Pin Pin Pon”

The Echo Park Project
“El Pin Pin Pon”
Release Date: June 21, 2019

I would like to welcome The Echo Park Project to our NewGenSalsa family of artists. I’m happy to present their 5th production “El Pin Pin Pon”. I recently spoke to the leader of the band Carlo Lopez who is originally from Brooklyn, NY from my old hood in Bushwick. He moved to Los Angeles, Ca. where he formed the Echo Park Project Orchestra. Carlo’s mission was to bring to Los Angeles the old style of Salsa he grew up listening to as a teenager in NYC and that my friends he has accomplished with flying colors.

This new Album is a combination of new songs and old with 100% swing that the dancers, DJs and the old school Salseros will enjoy for years to come. This production includes the following guest artists: percussionists Johnny Dandy Rodriguez and George Delgado; singers Jorge Maldonado, Freddy Crespo, and Daniel Castillo; and legendary arrangers including Joe Mannozzi, Oscar Hernandez, and special invited friends Alleen Lopez and Carmen Parrot.

The CD starts off with “Zabaramba Kiri Kiri Bon” which is one of many favorites with a hot piano intro to set off the non-stop swing that will move your body and soul and keep the dance floor packed. Track #2 “Echo Park Cha Cha” which was the first single to be released via the Ilatino Label. With hot Piano/Bass/timbale/conga solos and a sweet brass segment that will keep your body moving. Track #3 “Pa Los Rumberos” which will be another dance floor favorite. Track #4 which happens to be the title song “El Pin Pin Pon” which is fire as you will hear for yourself because I have added it here as a sample for your listening and dancing pleasure. I could continue writing about all the songs on this excellent production. But I want you to purchase this CD and listen for yourselves. It just doesn’t get better than this.

I highly recommend this CD for your Salsa collection. And to all my DJ Brothers. This is A BIG TIME DJ RED ALERT. A definite must add to your arsenal.
