Review: Gerardo Rosales “Echandole”

Master percussionist Gerardo Rosales celebrates his 30th year in the business by recording a Monster CD Titled “Geraldo Rosales 30 Aniversario” which includes an unheard of 16 tracks of Salsa Dura. This production includes some of the best Soneros in the business such as Marcial Istúria, Orlando Castillo “Watussi”, Alberto Caicedo, Frankie Vázquez, Hermán Olivera, Javier Plaza, Joe Ruiz, Prisca Dávila, Miguel Montenegro, Nelson Arrieta, Mauricio Silva, and Cheo Valenzuela.

I consider this CD to be one of best in the past two years without a doubt. The track I’m featuring is called “Echandole” which explains that leaving your country and moving to another doesn’t necessarily solve your problems. In fact things can get a lot worst. And you must listen to Gerardo’s smooth rendition of the classic Cal Tjader latin jazz track “Picadillo”. This is a classic Jam Session with the oldschool flavor.

This is one CD you must add to your music collection and a definite DJ must have for your arsenal.
