Luis González Honored By Puerto Rico’s National Foundation For Popular Culture

Trumpeter Luis González lived up to his nickname as “The Tsunami of Salsa” with his recognition by Puerto Rico’s National Foundation for Popular Culture as having one of the 20 most outstanding musical productions of the year 2010.  His critically-acclaimed album Tributo a un Gigante was honored by the organization in December of 2011, and we at NGS would like to extend a belated and heartfelt congratulations to Luis on his esteemed honor.

For those who are unaware, Luis is a Ray Barretto alumni, and the award-winning Tributo a un Gigante was a musical tribute to the legendary Puerto Rican percussionist.  Despite the fact that the album was released in 2010, Luis’ project still packs a serious punch even two years later.  It just goes to show how great music can always stand the test of time.

If you haven’t picked up Tributo a un Gigante, please do so now!
