Review: Marlow Rosado Y La Riqueña “Salsanimal”

The 2013 Grammy Award winner for BEST TROPICAL LATIN ALBUM: “Retro” Marlow Rosado Y La Riqueña are back with a smokin new CD entitled “Salsanimal” which includes 12 tracks that caters to all salsa lovers. This new production unlike his Grammy winning CD contains all original tracks which were all composed by Marlow Rosado and with special invited guests such as Jon Secada,Larry Harlow,Richie Ray,Herman Olivera,Domingo Quiñones,Alex Matos,De La Torre,Jose Arrojo,Mayito Rivera,Checo Acosta and Javier Merino. I have several favorite tracks on this CD “Cataño (feat Herman Olivera)”,88 Mil Teclas (feat Larry Harlow Richie Ray), No Me Interesas (feat Jose Arroyo)” and the track I’m featuring called “Quiero Que Me Quieras” featuring a new vocalist Javier Merino who I’m sure you’ll be hearing a lot more from him in the near future. Marlow has definitely put together another Bangin production.

This next track is a very special song with a strong message:

“OK HERE IS THE TRUTH Feat. Jon Secada” In speaking with Marlow, he indicated that this song is very dear to his heart because it relates to a disease that affects so many of us whether directly and/or indirectly (Cancer). He feels that the tropical market, especially the salsa world needs to take a more active role in putting out messages that go beyond the normal “Baby I love you, come dance and shake all over”. Although he loves watching people dance to the sabrosura of his music, he felt a need to do something more that would grab the attention of the listeners and hopefully they would stop and listen to a message that is real and talks about how Cancer is affecting our families/friends in so many ways. This is why he asked Jon Secada to sing this song because he knew that Jon is also very involved with many cancer organizations. In closing Marlow hopes that the Salsero community understands that there is a reason for the blue card in the middle of so many red ones. I happen to agree with him 100%.

I highly recommend this CD. So make sure you pick up your copy and add it to your Salsa collection. DJ Alert!!!
